    Gospel Purpose: SpiritFREE Life in Christ Jesus

    SpiritFREE Life

    We were not created to struggle bodybound, but to LIVE SpiritFREE!*

    • Caveat: We are not endorsing astral projection and other occult arts, but rather the sending away of sins, obedience, purity, atonement and alignment with the regenerative will of God, Christ’s payment for our sins, the Holy Spirit and Christ’s advocacy before our Father, whose heavenly family we are given the authority to be born into via God’s only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ.

    This instead of “every man did what was right in his own eyes” found in the book of Judges.
    Behold, I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; choose life.
    Deuteronomy 30:19

    19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
    20 That thou mayest love the LORD thy God , and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.
    ~ Deuteronomy 30:19-20 (KJV)

    The thief comes not but to steal kill and destroy, but I have come that you might have life, and that you might have it more abundantly.

    No one hath seen God at any time; the only-begotten Son which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared Him.
    John 1:18

    For God so loved the world, he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
    John 3:16

    There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.
    1 Timothy 2:5

    If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus Christ, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you shall be saved.
    Romans 10:9

    But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise , Say not in thine heart , Who shall ascend into heaven ? (that is , to bring Christ down from above:)
    Or , Who shall descend into the deep ? (that is , to bring up Christ again from the dead. )
    But what saith it ? The word is nigh thee , even in thy mouth , and in thy heart : that is , the word of faith , which we preach ;
    That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus , and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead , thou shalt be saved .
    For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness ; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation .
    For the scripture saith , Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed .
    For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek : for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him .
    For † whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved .
    ~ Romans 10:6-13 (KJV)

    Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No man cometh unto the Father but by me.”
    John 14:6

    He that believeth on him is not condemned, but he that believeth not on him is condemned *already* because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
    John 3:18

    If you believe not that I am [he], you shall die in your sins.
    John 8:24

    My sheep know my voice, and the voice of a stranger they will not follow.

    Verily , verily , I say unto you , He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, † but climbeth up some other way , the same is a thief and a robber .
    But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep .
    To him the porter openeth ; and the sheep hear his voice : and he calleth his own sheep by name , and leadeth them out .
    And when he putteth forth his own sheep , he goeth before them , and the sheep follow him : for they know his voice .
    And a stranger will they not follow , but will flee from him : for they know not the voice of strangers .
    This parable spake Jesus unto them : but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them .
    Then said Jesus unto them again , Verily , verily , I say unto you, † I am the door of the sheep .
    All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers : but the sheep did not hear them .
    I am the door : by me if any man enter in , he shall be saved , and shall go in and out , and find pasture .
    The thief cometh not , but for to steal , and to kill , and to destroy : I am come that they might have life , and that they might have it more abundantly.
    I am the good shepherd : the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
    But he that is an hireling , and not the shepherd , whose own the sheep are not , seeth the wolf coming , and leaveth the sheep , and fleeth : and the wolf catcheth them , and scattereth the sheep .
    The hireling fleeth , because he is an hireling , and careth not for the sheep .
    I am the good shepherd , and know my sheep, and am known of mine .
    As the Father knoweth me , even so know I the Father : and I lay down my life for the sheep .
    And other sheep I have , which are not of this fold : them also I must bring , and they shall hear my voice ; and there shall be one fold , and one shepherd .
    Therefore † doth my Father love me , because I lay down my life , that I might take it again .
    No man taketh it from me , but I lay it down of myself . I have power to lay it down , and I have power to take it again . This commandment have I received of my Father .
    There was a division therefore again among the Jews for these sayings .
    And many of them said , He hath a devil , and is mad ; why hear ye him ?
    Others said , These are not the words of him that hath a devil . Can † a devil open the eyes of the blind ?
    And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication , and it was winter .
    And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon’s porch .
    Then came the Jews round about him , and said unto him , How long dost thou make us to doubt ? If thou be the Christ , tell us plainly .
    Jesus answered them , I told you , and ye believed not : the works that I do in my Father’s name , they bear witness of me .
    But ye believe not , because ye are not of my sheep , as I said unto you .
    My sheep hear my voice , and I know them , and they follow me :
    And I give unto them eternal life ; and they shall never † † perish , neither † shall any man pluck them out of my hand .
    My Father , which gave them me , is greater than all ; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand .
    I and my Father are one .
    Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him .
    Jesus answered them , Many good works have I shewed you from my Father ; for which of those works do ye stone me ?
    The Jews answered him , saying , For a good work we stone thee not ; but for blasphemy ; and because that thou , being a man , makest thyself God.
    Jesus answered them , Is it not written in your law , I said , Ye are gods ?
    If he called them gods , unto whom the word of God came , and the scripture cannot † be broken ;
    Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified , and sent into the world, † Thou blasphemest ; because I said , I am the Son of God ?
    If I do not the works of my Father , believe me not .
    But if I do , though ye believe not me , believe the works : that ye may know , and believe , that the Father is in me , and I in him .
    Therefore they sought again to take him : but he escaped out of their hand ,
    And went away again beyond Jordan into the place where John at first baptized; † ; and there he abode .
    And many resorted unto him , and said, † John did no † miracle : but all things that John spake of this man were true .
    And many believed on him there .
    ~ John 10:1-42 (KJV)

    If any man have not Christ, he is none of his.
    Romans 8:9

    Flesh and blood cannot enter the kingdom of God. Neither does corruption inherit incorruption.
    1 Corinthians 15:50

    Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a man be born again/from above/of water and the Spirit, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
    John 3:3

    Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom [or reign] of God.
    John 3:5

    The wind bloweth where it listeth and you hear the sound thereof, but you cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes; so is everyone that is born of the Spirit.
    John 3:8

    20 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:
    21 Neither shall they say, Look here! or , look there! for behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
    ~ Luke 17:20-21

    John the Baptist: “I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but he that comes after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.
    Matthew 3:11

    If anyone love me, he will keep my commandments, and I will…

    When he, the Spirit of truth has come, he will guide you into all truth.

    …And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set/make you free.

    He whom the Son sets free is free indeed.

    He that is joined with the Lord is one spirit.
    1 Corinthians 6:17

    If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature. Old things have passed away; behold, all things are made new.

    I am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ, for it is the POWER of God unto salvation, to the Jew first, then unto the Gentile.
    Romans 1:16

    For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
    Romans 3:23

    For the wages [payment/result/consequences] of sin is death. But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
    Romans 6:23

    Repent and be baptized for the remission [or sending away] of [past] sins.
    Acts 2:38

    37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart , and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles , Men and brethren , what shall we do ?
    38 Then Peter said unto them , Repent , and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins , and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost .
    39 For the promise is unto you , and to your children , and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. .
    40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort , saying , Save yourselves from this untoward generation .
    41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized : and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls .
    42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles doctrine and fellowship , and in breaking of bread , and in prayers .
    43 And fear came upon every soul : and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles .
    44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common ;
    45 And sold their possessions and goods , and parted them to all men, as every man had need .
    46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple , and breaking bread from house to house , did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart ,
    47 Praising God , and having favour with all the people . And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved .
    ~ Acts 2:37-47 (KJV)

    He that loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he that loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
    And he that taketh not up his cross, and followeth not me is not worthy of me.
    Matthew 10:37-38

    35 But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:
    36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.
    ~ Luke 20:35-36 (KJV)

    Therefore being justified by faith , we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ :
    By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand , and rejoice in hope of the glory of God .
    And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also : knowing that tribulation worketh patience ;
    And patience , experience ; and experience , hope :
    And hope maketh not ashamed ; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us .
    For when we were yet without strength , in due time Christ died for the ungodly .
    For scarcely for a righteous man will one die : yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die .
    But God commendeth his love toward us , in that , while we were yet sinners , Christ died for us .
    Much more then , being now justified by his blood , we shall be saved from wrath through him .
    For if , when we were enemies , we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son , much more , being reconciled , we shall be saved by his life .
    And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ , by whom we have now received the atonement .
    Wherefore, † as by one man sin entered into the world , and death by sin ; and so death passed upon all men , for that all have sinned :
    (For until the law sin was in the world : but sin is not imputed when there is no law .
    Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses , even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression , who is the figure of him that was to come .
    But not as the offence , so also is the free gift . For if through the offence of one many be dead , much more the grace of God , and the gift by grace , which is by one man , Jesus Christ , hath abounded unto many .
    And not as it was by one that sinned , so is the gift : for the judgment was by one to condemnation , but the free gift is of many offences unto justification .
    For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one ; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one , Jesus Christ. )
    Therefore † as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation ; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life .
    For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners , so † by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous .
    Moreover the law entered , that the offence might abound . But where sin abounded , grace did much more abound :
    That as sin hath reigned unto death , even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord .
    ~ Romans 5:1-21 (KJV)

    Giving thanks unto the Father who has made us fit to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light. Who has delivered us from the power of darkness and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son; In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins.
    Colossians 1:12-14

    There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus , who walk not after the flesh , but after the Spirit .
    For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death .
    For what the law could not do , in that it was weak through the flesh , God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh , and for sin , condemned sin in the flesh :
    That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us , who walk not after the flesh , but after the Spirit .
    For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh ; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit .
    For to be carnally minded is death ; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace .
    Because the carnal mind is enmity against God : for it is not subject to the law of God , neither indeed can be .
    So then they that are in the flesh cannot † please God .
    But ye are not in the flesh , but in the Spirit , if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you . Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ , he is none of his .
    And if Christ be in you , the body is dead because of sin ; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness .
    But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you , he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you .
    Therefore, † brethren , we are debtors , not to the flesh , to live after the flesh .
    For if ye live after the flesh , ye shall die : but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body , ye shall live .
    For as many as are led by the Spirit of God , they are the sons of God .
    For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear ; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption , whereby we cry , Abba , Father .
    The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit , that we are the children of God :
    And if children , then heirs ; heirs of God, † and joint-heirs with Christ ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together .
    For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us .
    For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God .
    For the creature was made subject to vanity , not willingly , but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope ,
    Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God .
    For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now .
    And not only they, but ourselves also , which have the firstfruits of the Spirit , even we ourselves groan within ourselves , waiting for the adoption , to wit, the redemption of our body .
    For we are saved by hope : but hope that is seen is not hope : for what a man seeth , why doth he yet hope for ?
    But if we hope for that we see not , then do we with patience wait for it.
    Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for : we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but : the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. .
    And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit , because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God .
    And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God , to them who are the called according to his purpose .
    For whom he did foreknow , he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son , that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
    Moreover whom he did predestinate , them he also called : and whom he called , them he also justified : and whom he justified , them he also glorified .
    What shall we then say to these things ? If God be for us , who can be against us ?
    He that † spared not his own Son , but delivered him up for us all , how shall he not with him also freely give us all things ?
    Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect ? It is God that justifieth .
    Who is he that condemneth ? It is Christ that died , yea rather, † that is risen again , who is even at the right hand of God , who also maketh intercession for us .
    Who shall separate us from the love of Christ ? shall tribulation , or distress , or persecution , or famine , or nakedness , or peril , or sword?
    As it is written, † For thy sake we are killed all the day long ; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter .
    Nay , in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us .
    For I am persuaded , that neither death , nor life , nor angels , nor principalities , nor powers , nor things present , nor things to come ,
    Nor height , nor depth , nor any other creature , shall be able to separate us from the love of God , which is in Christ Jesus our Lord .
    ~ Romans 8:1-39 (KJV)

    Paul , an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God , and Timotheus our brother ,
    To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse : Grace be unto you , and peace , from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ .
    We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ , praying always for you ,
    Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus , and of the love which ye have to all the saints ,
    For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven , whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel ;
    Which is come unto you , as it is in all the world ; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you , since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth :
    As ye also learned of Epaphras our dear fellowservant , who is for you a faithful minister of Christ ;
    Who also declared unto us your love in the Spirit .
    For this cause we also , since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you , and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding ;
    That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing , being fruitful in every good work , and increasing in the knowledge of God ;
    Strengthened with all might , according to his glorious power , unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness ;
    Giving thanks unto the Father , which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light :
    Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness , and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son :
    In whom we have redemption through his blood , even the forgiveness of sins :
    Who is the image of the invisible God , the firstborn of every creature :
    For by him were all things created , that are in heaven , and that are in earth , visible and invisible , whether they be thrones , or dominions , or principalities , or powers : all things were created by him , and for him :
    And he is before all things , and by him all things consist .
    And he is the head of the body , the church : who is the beginning , the firstborn from the dead ; that in all things he might have the preeminence .
    For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell ;
    And , having made peace through the blood of his cross , by him to reconcile all things unto himself ; by him , I say, whether they be things in earth , or things in heaven .
    And you , that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works , yet now hath he reconciled
    In the body of his flesh through death , to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight :
    If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled , and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel , which ye have heard , and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven ; whereof I Paul am made a minister ;
    Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you , and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body’s sake , which is the church :
    Whereof I am made a minister , according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you , to fulfil the word of God ;
    Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations , but now is made manifest to his saints :
    To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles ; which is Christ in you , the hope of glory :
    Whom we preach , warning every man , and teaching every man in all wisdom ; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus :
    Whereunto I also labour , striving according to his working , which worketh in me mightily.
    ~ Colossians 1:1-29 (KJV)

    But ye are a chosen generation , a royal priesthood , an holy nation , a peculiar people ; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.
    ~ 1 Peter 2:9 (KJV)

    Behold, what manner of love is this the father has bestowed on us, that we should be called the sons of God. Therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
    Beloved now are we the sons of God, but it doth not yet appear [has not been revealed] what we shall be, but we know that when he shall appear [be revealed], we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.
    And every man that has this hope in him purifies himself even as he is pure.
    1 John 3:1-3

    Behold , what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us , that we should be called the sons of God : therefore the world knoweth us not , because it knew him not .
    Beloved , now are we the sons of God , and it doth not yet appear what we shall be : but we know that , when he shall appear , we shall be like him ; for we shall see him as he is .
    And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself , even as he is pure .
    Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth † also the law : for sin is the transgression of the law .
    And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins ; and in him is no sin .
    Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not : whosoever sinneth hath not seen him , neither known him .
    Little children , let no man deceive you : he that doeth righteousness is righteous , even as he is righteous .
    He that committeth sin is of the devil ; for the devil sinneth from the beginning . For this purpose the Son of God was manifested , that he might destroy the works of the devil .
    Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin ; for his seed remaineth in him : and he cannot † sin , because he is born of God .
    In this the children of God are manifest , and the children of the devil : whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God , neither he that loveth not his brother .
    For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning , that we should love one another .
    Not as Cain , who was of that wicked one , and slew his brother . And wherefore † slew he him ? Because his own works were evil , and his brother’s righteous .
    Marvel not , my brethren , if the world hate you .
    We know that we have passed from death unto life , because we love the brethren . He that loveth not his brother abideth in death .
    Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer : and ye know that no † murderer hath eternal life abiding in him .
    Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us : and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren .
    But whoso † hath this world’s good , and seeth his brother have need , and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him , how dwelleth the love of God in him ?
    My little children , let us not love in word , neither in tongue ; but in deed and in truth .
    And hereby we know that we are of the truth , and shall assure our hearts before him .
    For if our heart condemn us, † God is greater than our heart , and knoweth all things .
    Beloved , if our heart condemn us not , then have we confidence toward God .
    And whatsoever we ask , we receive of him , because we keep his commandments , and do those things that are pleasing in his sight .
    And this is his commandment , That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ , and love one another , as he gave us commandment .
    And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him , and he in him . And hereby we know that he abideth in us , by the Spirit which he hath given us .
    ~1 John 3:1-24 (KJV)

    There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, *who walk not after the flesh to do the lusts thereof, but after the Spirit.*
    For the law of the Spirit life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and death.
    If you live according to the flesh, you will die. But if you, through the the Spirit, do put to death the deeds of the flesh, you will live.
    Romans 8:1-2

    Therefore, I beseech ye brethren that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
    And be not conformed to this world, but ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, acceptable and perfect will of God.
    Romans 12:1-2

    But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
    James 1:22

    For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law : and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law ;
    (For not the hearers of the law are just before God , but the doers of the law shall be justified .
    ~ Romans 2:12-13

    But I discipline my body and bring it under subjection, lest when after I have preached to others, I should be a castaway [disapproved].
    1 Corinthians 9:27

    By their fruits, ye shall know them.
    Matthew 7:20

    Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you , do ye even so to them : for this is the law and the prophets .
    Enter ye in at the strait gate : for wide is the gate , and broad is the way , that leadeth to destruction , and many there be which go in thereat: :
    Because strait is the gate , and narrow is the way , which leadeth unto life , and few there be that find it .
    Beware of false prophets , which come to you in sheep’s clothing , but inwardly they are ravening wolves .
    Ye shall know them by their fruits. . Do men gather grapes of thorns , or figs of thistles ?
    Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit ; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit .
    A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit , neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit .
    Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down , and cast into the fire .
    Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them .
    Not every one that saith unto me , Lord , Lord , shall enter into the kingdom of heaven ; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven .
    Many will say to me in that day , Lord , Lord , have we not prophesied in thy name ? and in thy name have cast out devils ? and in thy name done many wonderful works ?
    And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you : depart from me , ye that work iniquity .
    Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine , and doeth them , I will liken him unto a wise man , which built his house upon a rock :
    And the rain descended , and the floods came , and the winds blew , and beat upon that house ; and it fell not : for it was founded upon a rock .
    And every one that heareth these sayings of mine , and doeth them not , shall be likened unto a foolish man , which built his house upon the sand :
    And the rain descended , and the floods came , and the winds blew , and beat upon that house ; and it fell : and great was the fall of it .
    ~ Matthew 7:12-27 (KJV)

    For though I preach the gospel , I have nothing to glory of : for necessity is laid upon me ; yea , woe is unto me , if I preach not the gospel !
    For if I do this thing willingly , I have a reward : but if against my will , a dispensation of the gospel is committed unto me .
    What is my reward then ? Verily that , when I preach the gospel , I may make the gospel of Christ without charge , that I abuse not my power in the gospel .
    For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all , that I might gain the more .
    And unto the Jews I became as a Jew , that I might gain the Jews ; to them that are under the law , as under the law , that I might gain them that are under the law ;
    To them that are without law , as without law , (being not without law to God , but under the law to Christ ,) that I might gain them that are without law .
    To the weak became I as weak , that I might gain the weak : I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some .
    And this I do for the gospel’s sake , that I might be partaker thereof with you.
    Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize ? So run , that ye may obtain .
    And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. . Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown ; but we an incorruptible .
    I therefore so run , not as uncertainly ; so fight I , not as one that beateth the air :
    But I keep under my body , and bring it into subjection : lest that by any means, when I have preached to others , I myself should be a castaway .
    ~ 1 Corinthians 9:16-27 (KJV)

    If there be therefore any consolation in Christ , if any comfort of love , if any fellowship of the Spirit , if any bowels and mercies ,
    Fulfil ye my joy , that ye be likeminded, † having the same love , being of one accord , of one mind .
    Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory ; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves .
    Look not every man on his own things , but every man also on the things of others .
    † Let this mind be in you , which was also in Christ Jesus :
    Who , being in the form of God , thought it not robbery to be equal with God :
    But made himself of no reputation , and took upon him the form of a servant , and was made in the likeness of men :
    And being found in fashion as a man , he humbled himself , and became obedient unto death , even the death of the cross .
    Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him , and given him a name which is above every name :
    That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow , of things in heaven , and things in earth , and things under the earth ;
    And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord , to the glory of God the Father .
    Wherefore , my beloved , as ye have always obeyed , not as in my presence only , but now much more in my absence , work out your own salvation with fear and trembling .
    For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure .
    Do all things without murmurings and disputings :
    That ye may be blameless and harmless , the sons of God , without rebuke , in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation , among whom ye shine as lights in the world ;
    Holding forth the word of life ; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ , that I have not run in vain , neither laboured in vain .
    Yea , and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith , I joy , and rejoice with you all .
    ~ Philippians 2:1-17 (KJV)

    Though I might also have confidence in the flesh . If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh , I more :
    Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel , of the tribe of Benjamin , an Hebrew of the Hebrews ; as touching the law , a Pharisee ;
    Concerning zeal , persecuting the church ; touching the righteousness which is in the law, † blameless .
    But what things were gain to me , those I counted loss for Christ .
    Yea doubtless , and I count all things but loss for † the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord : for whom I have suffered the loss of all things , and do count them but dung , that I may win Christ ,
    And be found in him , not having mine own righteousness , which is of the law , but that which is through the faith of Christ , the righteousness which is of God by faith :
    That I may know him , and the power of his resurrection , and the fellowship of his sufferings , being made conformable unto his death ;
    If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead .
    Not as though I had already attained , either were already perfect : but I follow after , if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus .
    Brethren , I count not myself to have apprehended : but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind , and reaching forth unto those things which are before ,
    I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus .
    Let us therefore , as many as be perfect , be thus minded : and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded , God shall reveal even this unto you .
    Nevertheless , whereto we have already attained , let us walk by the same rule , let us mind the same thing .
    Brethren , be followers together of me , and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample .
    (For many walk , of whom I have told you often , and now tell you even weeping , that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ :
    Whose end is destruction , whose God is their belly , and whose glory is in their shame , who mind earthly things. )
    For our conversation is in heaven ; from whence also we look for the Saviour , the Lord Jesus Christ :
    Who shall change our vile body , that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body , according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself .
    ~ Philippians 3:4-21 (KJV)

    Take heed , brethren , lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief , in departing from the living God .
    But exhort one another daily, † † while it is called To day ; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin .
    For we are made partakers of Christ , if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end ;
    While it is said , To day if ye will hear his voice , harden not your hearts , as in the provocation .
    For some , when they had heard , did provoke : howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses .
    But with whom was he grieved forty years ? was it not with them that had sinned , whose carcases fell in the wilderness ?
    And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest , but to them that believed not ?
    So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief .
    ~ Hebrews 3:12-19 (KJV)

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Some Key Chapters in the Gospel of St. John about Jesus and the Spiritual Life He Gives. He is our lifeline. He is the expression of our very inner Life… to reconnect us to the Father by removing past sins and refreshing us with the Divine Spirit of God that we lost when Adam’s sin separated us from God and gave us a sinful nature, so that we might grow in grace and not sin.
    And if we happen to slip up from time to time (because we still have to be perfected by being humble and broken before him and walking it out by the Spirit day by day), we have an advocate (Jesus) with the Father, so that we can confess and forsake our sins and he will forgive us and cleanse us of unrighteousness. (No sloppy sinning or faking repentance though, because God searches and knows our hearts. We need to be diligent.)
    John Chapter 1
    In the beginning was the Word , and the Word was with God , and the Word was God .
    The same was in the beginning with God .
    All things were made by him ; and without him was not any thing made that was made .
    In him was life ; and the life was the light of men .
    And the light shineth in darkness ; and the darkness comprehended it not .
    There was a man sent from God , whose name was John .
    The same came for a witness , to bear witness of the Light , that all men through him might believe .
    He was not that Light , but was sent to bear witness of that Light .
    That was the true Light , which lighteth every man that cometh into the world .
    He was in the world , and the world was made by him , and the world knew him not .
    He came unto his own , and his own received him not .
    But as many as received him , to them gave he power to become the sons of God , even to them that believe on his name :
    Which were born , not of blood , nor of the will of the flesh , nor of the will of man , but of God .
    And the Word was made flesh , and dwelt among us , † (and we beheld his glory , the glory as of the only begotten of the Father ,) full of grace and truth .
    John bare witness of him , and cried , saying , This was he of whom I spake , He that cometh after me is preferred before me : for he was before me .
    And of his fulness have all we received , and grace for grace .
    For the law was given by Moses , but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ .
    No man hath seen God at any time ; the only begotten Son , which is in the bosom of the Father , he hath declared him.
    And this is the record of John , when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him , Who art thou ?
    And he confessed , and denied not ; but confessed, † I am not the Christ .
    And they asked him , What then ? Art thou Elias ? And he saith , I am not . Art thou that prophet ? And he answered , No .
    Then said they unto him , Who art thou ? that we may give an answer to them that sent us . What sayest thou of thyself ?
    He said , I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness , Make straight the way of the Lord , as said the prophet Esaias .
    And they which were sent were of the Pharisees .
    And they asked him , and said unto him , Why baptizest thou then , if thou be not that Christ , nor Elias , neither that prophet ?
    John answered them , saying , I baptize with water : but there standeth one among you , whom ye know not ;
    He it is , who coming after me is preferred before me , whose † shoe’s latchet I am not worthy to unloose .
    These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan , where John was baptizing .
    The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him , and saith , Behold the Lamb of God , which taketh away the sin of the world .
    This is he of whom I said , After me cometh a man which is preferred before me : for he was before me .
    And I knew him not : but that he should be made manifest to Israel , therefore † am I come baptizing with water .
    And John bare record , saying, † I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove , and it abode upon him .
    And I knew him not : but he that sent me to baptize with water , the same said unto me , Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending , and remaining on him , the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost .
    And I saw , and bare record that this is the Son of God .
    Again the next day after John stood , and two of his disciples ;
    And looking upon Jesus as he walked , he saith , Behold the Lamb of God !
    And the two disciples heard him speak , and they followed Jesus .
    Then Jesus turned , and saw them following , and saith unto them , What seek ye? † ? They said unto him , Rabbi , † (which is to say , being interpreted , Master ,) where dwellest thou ?
    He saith unto them , Come and see . They came and saw where he dwelt , and abode with him that day : for it was about the tenth hour .
    One of the two which heard † John speak, and followed him , was Andrew , Simon Peter’s brother .
    He first findeth his own brother Simon , and saith unto him , We have found the Messias , which is , being interpreted , the Christ .
    And he brought him to Jesus . And when Jesus beheld him , he said , Thou art Simon the son of Jona : thou shalt be called Cephas , which is by interpretation , A stone .
    The day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee , and findeth Philip , and saith unto him , Follow me .
    Now Philip was of Bethsaida , the city of Andrew and Peter .
    Philip findeth Nathanael , and saith unto him , We have found him, of whom Moses in the law , and the prophets , did write , Jesus of Nazareth , the son of Joseph .
    And Nathanael said unto him , Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth ? Philip saith unto him , Come and see .
    Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him , and saith of him , Behold an Israelite indeed , in whom is no guile !
    Nathanael saith unto him , Whence knowest thou me ? Jesus answered and said unto him , Before that Philip called thee , when thou wast under the fig tree , I saw thee .
    Nathanael answered and saith unto him , Rabbi , thou art the Son of God ; thou art the King of Israel .
    Jesus answered and said unto him , Because I said unto thee , I saw thee under the fig tree , believest thou ? thou shalt see greater things than these .
    John Chapter 14
    Let not your heart be troubled : ye believe in God , believe also in me .
    In my Father’s house are many mansions : if it were not so, I would have told † you . I go to prepare a place for you .
    And if I go and prepare a place for you , I will come again , and receive you unto myself ; that where I am , there ye may be also .
    And whither I go ye know , and the way ye know .
    Thomas saith unto him , Lord , we know not whither thou goest ; and how can we know the way ?
    Jesus saith unto him , I am the way, † the truth , and the life : no man cometh unto the Father , but by me .
    If ye had known me, † ye should have known my Father also : and from henceforth ye know him , and have seen him .
    Philip saith unto him , Lord , shew us the Father , and it sufficeth us .
    Jesus saith unto him , Have I been so long time with you , and yet hast thou not known me , Philip ? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father ; and how sayest thou then, shew us the Father ?
    Believest thou not that I am in the Father , and the Father in me ? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself : but the Father that dwelleth in me , he doeth the works .
    Believe me that I am in the Father , and the Father in me : or else believe me for the very works sake .
    Verily , verily , I say unto you , He that believeth on me , the works that I do shall he do also ; and greater works than these shall he do ; because I go unto my Father .
    And † whatsoever ye shall ask in my name , that will I do , that the Father may be glorified in the Son .
    If ye shall ask any thing in my name , I will do it.
    If ye love me , keep my commandments .
    And I will pray the Father , and he shall give you another Comforter , that he may abide with you for ever ;
    Even the Spirit of truth ; whom the world cannot † receive , because it seeth him not , neither knoweth him : but ye know him ; for he dwelleth with you , and shall be in you .
    I will not leave you comfortless : I will come to you .
    Yet a little while , and the world seeth me no more ; but ye see me : because I live , ye shall live also .
    At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father , and ye in me , and I in you .
    He that hath my commandments , and keepeth them , he it is that loveth me : and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father , and I will love him , and will manifest myself to him .
    Judas saith unto him , not Iscariot , Lord , how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us , and not unto the world ?
    Jesus answered and said unto him , If a man love me , he will keep my words : and my Father will love him , and we will come unto him , and make our abode with him .
    He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings : and the word which ye hear is not mine , but the Father’s which sent me .
    These things have I spoken unto you , being yet present with you .
    But the Comforter , which is the Holy Ghost , whom the Father will send in my name , he shall teach you all things , and bring all things to your remembrance , whatsoever I have said unto you .
    Peace I leave with you , my peace I give unto you : not as the world giveth , give I unto you . Let not your heart be troubled , neither let it be afraid .
    Ye have heard how I said unto you , I go away , and come again unto you . If ye loved me, † ye would rejoice , because I said , I go unto the Father : for my Father is greater than I .
    And now I have told you before it come to pass , that , when it is come to pass , ye might believe .
    Hereafter I will not talk much with you : for the prince of this world cometh , and hath † nothing in me .
    But that the world may know that I love the Father ; and as the Father gave me commandment , even so I do . Arise , let us go hence .
    John Chapter 15
    I am the true vine , and my Father is the husbandman .
    Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away : and every branch that beareth fruit , he purgeth it , that it may bring forth more fruit .
    Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you .
    Abide in me , and I in you . As the branch cannot † bear fruit of itself , except it abide in the vine ; no more can ye , except ye abide in me .
    I am the vine , ye are the branches : He that abideth in me , and I in him , the same bringeth forth much fruit : for without me ye can do nothing. † .
    If a man abide not in me , he is cast forth as a branch , and is withered ; and men gather them , and cast them into the fire , and they are burned .
    If ye abide in me , and my words abide in you , ye shall ask what ye will , and it shall be done unto you .
    Herein † is my Father glorified , that ye bear much fruit ; so shall ye be my disciples .
    As the Father hath loved me , so have I loved you : continue ye in my love .
    If ye keep my commandments , ye shall abide in my love ; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments , and abide in his love .
    These things have I spoken unto you , that my joy might remain in you , and that your joy might be full .
    This is my commandment , That ye love one another , as I have loved you.
    Greater love hath no man than this , that a man lay down his life for his friends .
    Ye are my friends , if ye do whatsoever I command you .
    Henceforth I call you not servants ; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth : but I have called you friends ; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you .
    Ye have not chosen me , but I have chosen you , and ordained you , that ye should go and bring forth fruit , and that your fruit should remain : that whatsoever † ye shall ask of the Father in my name , he may give it you .
    These things I command you , that ye love one another .
    If the world hate you , ye know that it hated me before it hated you .
    If ye were of the world , the world would love his own : but because ye are not of the world , but I have chosen you out of the world , therefore the world hateth you .
    Remember the word that I said unto you , The servant is not greater than his lord . If they have persecuted me , they will also persecute you ; if they have kept my saying , they will keep yours also .
    But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake , because they know not him that sent me .
    If I had not come and spoken unto them , they had not had sin : but now they have no cloak for their sin .
    He that hateth me hateth my Father also .
    If I had not done among them the works which none other man did , they had not had sin : but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father .
    But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, † They hated me without a cause .
    But when the Comforter is come , whom I will send unto you from the Father , even the Spirit of truth , which proceedeth from the Father , he shall testify of me :
    And ye also shall bear witness , because ye have been with me from the beginning .
    John Chapter 16
    These things have I spoken unto you , that ye should not be offended .
    They shall put you out of the synagogues : yea , the time cometh , that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service .
    And these things will they do unto you , because they have not known the Father , nor me .
    But these things have I told you , that when the time shall come , ye may remember that I told you of them . And these things I said not unto you at the beginning , because I was with you .
    But now I go my way to him that sent me ; and none of you asketh me , Whither goest thou ?
    But because I have said these things unto you , sorrow hath filled your heart .
    Nevertheless I tell you the truth ; It is expedient for you that I go away : for if I go not away , the Comforter will not come unto you ; but if I depart , I will send him unto you .
    And when he is come , he will reprove the world of sin , and of righteousness , and of judgment :
    Of sin, † because they believe not on me ;
    Of † righteousness , because I go to my Father , and ye see me no more;
    Of † judgment , because the prince of this world is judged .
    I have yet many things to say unto you , but ye cannot † bear them now .
    Howbeit when he , the Spirit of truth , is come , he will guide you into all truth : for he shall not speak of himself ; but whatsoever he shall hear , that shall he speak : and he will shew you things to come .
    He shall glorify me : for he shall receive of mine , and shall shew it unto you .
    All things that the Father hath are mine : therefore said I , that he shall take of mine , and shall shew it unto you .
    A little while , and ye shall not see me : and again , a little while , and ye shall see me , because I go to the Father .
    Then said some of his disciples among themselves , What is this that he saith unto us , A little while , and ye shall not see me : and again , a little while , and ye shall see me : and , Because I go to the Father ?
    They said therefore , What is this that he saith , A little while ? we cannot † tell what he saith .
    Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him , and said unto them , Do ye inquire among yourselves of that I said , A little while , and ye shall not see me : and again , a little while , and ye shall see me?
    Verily , verily , I say unto you , That ye shall weep and lament , but the world shall rejoice : and ye shall be sorrowful , but your sorrow shall be turned into joy .
    A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow , because her hour is come : but as soon as she is delivered of the child , she remembereth no more the anguish , for joy that a man is born into the world .
    And ye † now therefore have sorrow : but I will see you again , and your heart shall rejoice , and your joy no man taketh from you .
    And in that day ye shall ask me nothing . Verily , verily , I say unto you, † Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name , he will give it you .
    Hitherto have ye asked nothing † in my name : ask , and ye shall receive , that your joy may be full .
    These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs : but the time cometh , when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs , but I shall shew you plainly of the Father .
    At that day ye shall ask in my name : and I say not unto you , that I will pray the Father for you :
    For the Father himself loveth you , because ye have loved me , and have believed that I came out from God .
    I came forth from the Father , and am come into the world : again , I leave the world , and go to the Father .
    His disciples said unto him , Lo , now speakest thou plainly , and speakest no proverb .
    Now are we sure that thou knowest all things , and needest not † that any man should ask thee : by this we believe that thou camest forth from God .
    Jesus answered them , Do ye now believe ?
    Behold , the hour cometh , yea , is now come , that ye shall be scattered , every man to his own , and shall leave me alone : and yet I am not alone , because the Father is with me .
    These things I have spoken unto you , that in me ye might have peace . In the world ye shall have tribulation : but be of good cheer ; I have overcome the world .
    John Chapter 17
    These words spake Jesus , and lifted up his eyes to heaven , and said , Father , the hour is come ; glorify thy Son , that thy Son also may glorify thee :
    As thou hast given him power over all flesh , that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him .
    And this is life eternal , that they might know thee the only true God , and Jesus Christ , whom thou hast sent .
    I have glorified thee on the earth : I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do .
    And now , O Father , glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was .
    I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world : thine they were , and thou gavest them me ; and they have kept thy word .
    Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee .
    For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me ; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee , and they have believed that thou didst send me .
    I pray for them : I pray not for the world , but for them which thou hast given me ; for they are thine .
    And all mine are thine , and thine are mine ; and I am glorified in them .
    And now I am no more in the world , but these are in the world , and I come to thee . Holy Father , keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me , that they may be one , as we are.
    While I was with them in the world , I kept them in thy name : those that thou gavest me I have kept , and none of them is lost , but the son of perdition ; that the scripture might be fulfilled .
    And now come I to thee ; and these things I speak in the world , that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves .
    I have given them thy word ; and the world hath hated them , because they are not of the world , even as I am not of the world .
    I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world , but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil .
    They are not of the world , even as I am not of the world .
    Sanctify them through thy truth : thy word is truth .
    As thou hast sent me into the world , even so have I also sent them into the world .
    And for their sakes I sanctify myself , that they also might be sanctified through the truth .
    Neither pray I for these alone , but for them also which shall believe on me through their word ;
    That they all may be one ; as thou , Father , art in me , and I in thee , that they also may be one in us : that the world may believe that thou hast sent me .
    And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them ; that they may be one , even as we are one :
    I in them , and thou in me , that they may be made perfect in one ; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me , and hast loved them , as thou hast loved me .
    Father , I will that they also , whom thou hast given me , be with me where I am ; that they may behold my glory , which thou hast given me : for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world .
    O righteous Father , the world hath not known thee : but I have known thee , and these have known that thou hast sent me .
    And I have declared unto them thy name , and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them , and I in them .
    Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount of Olives (Matthew Chapters 5-7) is his most famous ministry piece. It was like back in the Old Testament when Moses went up on Mount Sinai to receive the Ten Commandments and the Mosaic Law for the people:
    Chapter 5
    And seeing the multitudes , he went up into a mountain : and when he was set , his disciples came unto him :
    And he opened his mouth , and taught them , saying ,
    Blessed are the poor in spirit : for theirs is the kingdom of heaven .
    Blessed are they that mourn : for they shall be comforted .
    Blessed are the meek : for they shall inherit the earth .
    Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness : for they shall be filled .
    Blessed are the merciful : for they shall obtain mercy .
    Blessed are the pure in heart : for they shall see God .
    Blessed are the peacemakers : for they shall be called the children of God .
    Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness sake : for theirs is the kingdom of heaven .
    Blessed are ye , when men shall revile you , and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely , for my sake. .
    Rejoice , and be exceeding glad : for great is your reward in heaven : for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you .
    Ye are the salt of the earth : but if the salt have lost his savour , wherewith shall it be salted ? it is thenceforth good for nothing , but to be cast out , and to be trodden under foot of men .
    Ye are the light of the world . A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid .
    Neither do men light a candle , and put it under a bushel , but on a candlestick ; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house .
    Let your light so shine before men , that they may see your good works , and glorify your Father which is in heaven .
    Think not that I am come to destroy the law , or the prophets : I am not come to destroy , but to fulfil .
    For verily I say unto you , Till heaven and earth pass , one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law , till all be fulfilled .
    Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments , and shall teach men so , he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven : but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven .
    For I say unto you , That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees , ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven .
    Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time , Thou shalt not kill ; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment :
    But I say unto you , That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment : and whosoever shall say to his brother , Raca , shall be in danger of the council : but whosoever shall say , Thou fool , shall be in danger of hell fire .
    Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar , and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee ;
    Leave there thy gift before the altar , and go thy way ; first be reconciled to thy brother , and then come and offer thy gift .
    Agree with thine adversary quickly , whiles thou art in the way with him ; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge , and the judge deliver thee to the officer , and thou be cast into prison .
    Verily I say unto thee , Thou shalt by no means come out thence , till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing .
    Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time , Thou shalt not commit adultery :
    But I say unto you , That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart .
    And if thy right eye offend thee , pluck it out , and cast it from thee : for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish , and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell .
    And if thy right hand offend thee , cut it off , and cast it from thee : for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish , and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell .
    It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife , let him give her a writing of divorcement :
    But I say unto you , That whosoever shall put away his wife , saving for the cause of fornication , causeth her to commit adultery : and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery .
    Again , ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time , Thou shalt not forswear thyself , but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths :
    But I say unto you , Swear not at all ; neither by heaven ; for it is God’s throne :
    Nor by the earth ; for it is his footstool: : neither by Jerusalem ; for it is the city of the great King .
    Neither shalt thou swear by thy head , because thou canst not make one hair white or black .
    But let your communication be , Yea , yea ; Nay , nay : for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil .
    Ye have heard that it hath been said , An eye for an eye , and a tooth for a tooth:
    But I say unto you , That ye resist not evil : but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek , turn to him the other also .
    And if any man will sue thee at the law , and take away thy coat , let him have thy cloak also .
    And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile , go with him twain .
    Give to him that asketh thee , and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away .
    Ye have heard that it hath been said , Thou shalt love thy neighbour , and hate thine enemy .
    But I say unto you , Love your enemies , bless them that curse you , do good to them that hate you , and pray for them which despitefully use you , and persecute you ;
    That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven : for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good , and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust .
    For if ye love them which love you , what reward have ye ? do not even the publicans the same ?
    And if ye salute your brethren only , what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so ?
    Be ye therefore perfect , even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect .
    Chapter 6
    Take heed that ye do not your alms before men , to be seen of them : otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven .
    Therefore when thou doest thine alms , do not sound a trumpet before thee , as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets , that they may have glory of men . Verily I say unto you , They have their reward .
    But when thou doest alms , let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth :
    That thine alms may be in secret : and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly. .
    And when thou prayest , thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets , that they may be seen of men . Verily I say unto you, They have their reward .
    But thou , when thou prayest , enter into thy closet , and when thou hast shut thy door , pray to thy Father which is in secret ; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. .
    But when ye pray , use not vain repetitions , as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking .
    Be not ye therefore like unto them : for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of , before ye ask him .
    After this manner therefore pray ye : Our Father which art in heaven , Hallowed be thy name .
    Thy kingdom come . Thy will be done in earth , as it is in heaven .
    Give us this day our daily bread .
    And forgive us our debts , as we forgive our debtors .
    And lead us not into temptation , but deliver us from evil : For thine is the kingdom , and the power , and the glory , for ever . Amen .
    For if ye forgive men their trespasses , your heavenly Father will also forgive you :
    But if ye forgive not men their trespasses , neither will your Father forgive your trespasses .
    Moreover when ye fast , be not , as the hypocrites , of a sad countenance : for they disfigure their faces , that they may appear unto men to fast . Verily I say unto you, They have their reward .
    But thou , when thou fastest , anoint thine head , and wash thy face ;
    That thou appear not unto men to fast , but unto thy Father which is in secret : and thy Father , which seeth in secret , shall reward thee openly. .
    Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth , where moth and rust doth corrupt , and where thieves break through and steal :
    But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven , where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt , and where thieves do not break through nor steal :
    For where your treasure is , there will your heart be also .
    The light of the body is the eye : if therefore thine eye be single , thy whole body shall be full of light .
    But if thine eye be evil , thy whole body shall be full of darkness . If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness , how great is that darkness !
    No man can serve two masters : for either he will hate the one , and love the other ; or else he will hold to the one , and despise the other . Ye cannot serve God and mammon .
    Therefore I say unto you , Take no thought for your life , what ye shall eat , or what ye shall drink ; nor yet for your body , what ye shall put on . Is not the life more than meat , and the body than raiment ?
    Behold the fowls of the air : for they sow not , neither do they reap , nor gather into barns ; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them . Are ye not much better than they ?
    Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature ?
    And why take ye thought for raiment ? Consider the lilies of the field , how they grow ; they toil not , neither do they spin :
    And yet I say unto you , That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these .
    Wherefore , if God so clothe the grass of the field , which to day is , and to morrow is cast into the oven , shall he not much more clothe you , O ye of little faith ?
    Therefore take no thought , saying , What shall we eat ? or , What shall we drink ? or , Wherewithal shall we be clothed ?
    (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek 🙂 for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things .
    But seek ye first the kingdom of God , and his righteousness ; and all these things shall be added unto you .
    Take therefore no thought for the morrow : for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself . Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof .
    Chapter 7
    Judge not , that ye be not judged .
    For with what judgment ye judge , ye shall be judged : and with what measure ye mete , it shall be measured to you again .
    And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye , but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye ?
    Or how wilt thou say to thy brother , Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye ; and , behold , a beam is in thine own eye ?
    Thou hypocrite , first cast out the beam out of thine own eye ; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye .
    Give not that which is holy unto the dogs , neither cast ye your pearls before swine , lest they trample them under their feet , and turn again and rend you .
    Ask , and it shall be given you ; seek , and ye shall find ; knock , and it shall be opened unto you :
    For every one that asketh receiveth ; and he that seeketh findeth ; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened .
    Or what man is there of you , whom if his son ask bread , will he give him a stone ?
    Or if he ask a fish , will he give him a serpent ?
    If ye then , being evil , know how to give good gifts unto your children , how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him ?
    Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you , do ye even so to them : for this is the law and the prophets .
    Enter ye in at the strait gate : for wide is the gate , and broad is the way , that leadeth to destruction , and many there be which go in thereat: :
    Because strait is the gate , and narrow is the way , which leadeth unto life , and few there be that find it .
    Beware of false prophets , which come to you in sheep’s clothing , but inwardly they are ravening wolves .
    Ye shall know them by their fruits. . Do men gather grapes of thorns , or figs of thistles ?
    Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit ; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit .
    A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit , neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit .
    Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down , and cast into the fire .
    Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them .
    Not every one that saith unto me , Lord , Lord , shall enter into the kingdom of heaven ; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven .
    Many will say to me in that day , Lord , Lord , have we not prophesied in thy name ? and in thy name have cast out devils ? and in thy name done many wonderful works ?
    And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you : depart from me , ye that work iniquity .
    Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine , and doeth them , I will liken him unto a wise man , which built his house upon a rock :
    And the rain descended , and the floods came , and the winds blew , and beat upon that house ; and it fell not : for it was founded upon a rock .
    And every one that heareth these sayings of mine , and doeth them not , shall be likened unto a foolish man , which built his house upon the sand :
    And the rain descended , and the floods came , and the winds blew , and beat upon that house ; and it fell : and great was the fall of it .
    And it came to pass , when Jesus had ended these sayings , the people were astonished at his doctrine :
    For he taught them as one having authority , and not as the scribes .
    —————
    There are many more important teachings of Jesus, but I want to include just one more chapter here. This one is from Luke Chapter 6:
    Luke Chapter 6
    And it came to pass on the second sabbath after the first , that he went through the corn fields ; and his disciples plucked the ears of corn , and did eat , rubbing them in their hands .
    And certain of the Pharisees said unto them , Why do ye that which is not lawful to do on the sabbath days ?
    And Jesus answering them † said , Have ye not read so much as this , what David did , when himself was an hungered , and they which were with him ;
    How he went into the house of God , and did take and eat the shewbread, † and gave also to them that were with him ; which it is not lawful to eat but for the priests alone ?
    And he said unto them , That the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath .
    And it came to pass also on another sabbath , that he entered into the synagogue and taught : and there was a man whose † right hand was withered .
    And the scribes and Pharisees watched him , whether he would heal on the sabbath day ; that they might find an accusation against him .
    But he knew their thoughts , and said to the man which had the withered hand , Rise up , and stand forth in the midst . And he arose and stood forth .
    Then said Jesus unto them , I will ask you one thing ; Is it lawful on the sabbath days to do good , or to do evil ? to save life , or to destroy it?
    And looking round about upon them all , he said unto the man , Stretch forth thy hand . And he did so : and his hand was restored whole as the other .
    And they were filled with madness ; and communed one with another † what they might do to Jesus .
    And it came to pass in those days , that he went out into a mountain to pray , and continued all night † in prayer to God .
    And when it was day , he called unto him his disciples : and of them he chose twelve , whom also he named apostles ;
    Simon , † (whom he also named Peter ,) and Andrew his brother , James and John , Philip and Bartholomew ,
    Matthew and Thomas , James the son of Alphaeus , and Simon called Zelotes ,
    And Judas the brother of James , and Judas Iscariot , which also was the traitor .
    And he came down with them , and stood in the plain, † and the company of his disciples , and a great multitude of people out of all Judaea and Jerusalem , and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon , which came to hear him , and to be healed of their diseases ;
    And they that were vexed with unclean spirits : and they were healed .
    And the whole multitude sought to touch him : for there went virtue out of him , and healed them all .
    And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples , and said , Blessed be ye poor : for yours is the kingdom of God .
    Blessed are ye that hunger now : for ye shall be filled . Blessed are ye that weep now : for ye shall laugh .
    Blessed are ye , when men shall hate you , and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil , for the Son of man’s sake .
    Rejoice ye in that day , and leap for joy : for , behold , your reward is great in heaven : for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets .
    But woe unto you that are rich ! for ye have received your consolation .
    Woe unto you that are full ! for ye shall hunger . Woe unto you that laugh now ! for ye shall mourn and weep .
    Woe unto you , when all men shall speak well of you ! for so † did their fathers to the false prophets .
    But I say unto you which hear , Love your enemies , do good to them which hate you ,
    Bless them that curse you , and pray for them which despitefully use you .
    And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other ; and him that taketh away thy cloak forbid not to take thy coat also .
    † Give to every man that asketh of thee ; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again .
    And as ye would that men should do to you , do ye also to them likewise.
    For if ye love them which love you , what thank have ye ? for sinners also love those that love them .
    And if ye do good to them which do good to you , what thank have ye ? for sinners also do even the same .
    And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive , what thank have ye ? for sinners also lend to sinners , to receive as much again .
    But love ye your enemies , and do good , and lend , hoping for nothing again ; and your reward shall be great , and ye shall be the children of the Highest : for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil .
    Be ye therefore merciful , as your Father also is merciful .
    Judge not, and , ye shall not be judged: condemn : not, and , ye shall not be condemned: forgive, : and , ye shall be forgiven: :
    Give , and it shall be given unto you ; good measure , pressed down , and shaken together , and running over , shall men give into your bosom . For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again .
    And he spake a parable unto them, † Can the blind lead the blind ? shall they not both fall into the ditch ?
    The disciple is not above his master : but every one that is perfect shall be as his master .
    And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye , but perceivest not the beam that is in thine own eye ?
    Either how canst thou say to thy brother , Brother , let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye , when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye ? Thou hypocrite , cast out first the beam out of thine own eye , and then shalt thou see clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother’s eye .
    For a good tree bringeth † not forth corrupt fruit ; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit .
    For every tree is known by his own fruit . For of thorns men do not gather figs , nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes .
    A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good ; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil : for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh .
    And why call ye me , Lord , Lord , and do not the things which I say ?
    Whosoever cometh to me , and heareth my sayings , and doeth them , I will shew you to whom he is like :
    He is like a man which built an house , and digged deep , and laid the foundation on a rock : and when the flood arose , the stream beat vehemently upon that house , and could not shake it : for it was founded upon a rock .
    But he that heareth , and doeth not , is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth ; against which the stream did beat vehemently , and immediately it fell ; and the ruin of that house was great .
    ———-
    When the first Gentiles began coming to the faith, a lot of the Jews argued that they absolutely needed to be physically circumcised and observe all the Jews’ laws and customs exactly as they did.
    The dispute was brought to the Apostles for them to determine what the mind of God was concerning the matter. Here is what the apostles under the leadership of James, the Lord’s brother and Apostle Peter decided to advise the Gentile Christians as the most important things to be aware of as they began their conversion:
    And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren , and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses , ye cannot be saved .
    When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them , they determined that Paul and Barnabas , and certain other of them , should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question .
    And being brought on their way by the church , they passed through Phenice and Samaria , declaring the conversion of the Gentiles : and they caused great joy unto all the brethren .
    And when they were come to Jerusalem , they were received of the church , and of the apostles and elders , and they declared all things that God had done with them .
    But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed , saying , That it was needful to circumcise them , and to command them to keep the law of Moses .
    And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter .
    And when there had been much disputing , Peter rose up , and said unto them , Men and brethren , ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us , that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel , and believe .
    And God , which knoweth the hearts , bare them witness , giving them the Holy Ghost , even as he did unto us ;
    And put no difference between us and them , purifying their hearts by faith .
    Now therefore why tempt ye God , to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples , which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear ?
    But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved , even as they .
    Then all the multitude kept silence , and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul , declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them .
    **************************************************************
    And after they had held their peace , James answered , saying , Men and brethren , hearken unto me :
    Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles , to take out of them a people for his name .
    And to this agree the words of the prophets ; as it is written ,
    After this I will return , and will build again the tabernacle of David , which is fallen down ; and I will build again the ruins thereof , and I will set it up :
    That the residue of men might seek after the Lord , and all the Gentiles , upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord , who doeth all these things .
    Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world .
    Wherefore my sentence is , that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God :
    But that we write unto them , that they abstain from pollutions of idols , and from fornication , and from things strangled , and from blood .
    21 For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him , being read in the synagogues every sabbath day .
    ***************************************************************
    Then pleased it the apostles and elders , with the whole church , to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas ; namely, Judas surnamed Barsabas , and Silas , chief men among the brethren :
    And they wrote letters by them after this manner ; The apostles and elders and brethren send greeting unto the brethren which are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia :
    Forasmuch as we have heard , that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words , subverting your souls , saying , Ye must be circumcised , and keep the law : to whom we gave no such commandment :
    It seemed good unto us , being assembled with one accord , to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul ,
    Men that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ .
    We have sent therefore Judas and Silas , who shall also tell you the same things by mouth .
    For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost , and to us , to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things ;
    That ye abstain from meats offered to idols , and from blood , and from things strangled , and from fornication : from which if ye keep yourselves , ye shall do well . Fare ye well .
    So when they were dismissed , they came to Antioch : and when they had gathered the multitude together , they delivered the epistle :
    Which when they had read , they rejoiced for the consolation .
    And Judas and Silas , being prophets also themselves , exhorted the brethren with many words , and confirmed them.
    ~ Acts 15:1-32 (KJV)
    That is not to say that everything else like the Ten Commandments and the Moral law of the Old Testament teachings should be discarded, and that we should get lazy like a lot of people in the so-called “church” [or body of Christ], thinking Jesus paid it all, it’s finished and there’s nothing for me to do. Not at all. We need to subdue our old human nature’s ways, allowing the grace of God’s Holy Spirit now placed within us to live out the true Spirit of the Old Testament law’s righteous principles, not out of drudgery but with understanding and from the heart by the grace growing in us as we nurture it.
    You will notice that in Acts 15:21 above, James suggested that they would still be attending synagogue with the Jews learning the teachings of Moses (which they read every sabbath day [7th day of rest/Saturday]).
    Jesus taught us in Matthew 5:17-19 that it is all useful, whether for the structure and health of our bodies, families, communities, etc or in helping us grow into communion with God and into the knowledge of God’s will and ways (which God says are higher than our ways):
    Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets : I am not come to destroy , but to fulfil .
    For verily I say unto you , Till heaven and earth pass , one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law , till all be fulfilled .
    Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments , and shall teach men so , he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven : but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven .
    For I say unto you , That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees , ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven .
    ~ Matthew 5:17-20 (KJV)
    //////////
    Book of James
    Chapter 1
    James , a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ , to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad , greeting .
    My brethren , count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations ;
    Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience .
    But let patience have her perfect work , that ye may be perfect and entire , wanting nothing. .
    If any of you lack wisdom , let him ask of God , that giveth to all men liberally , and upbraideth not ; and it shall be given him .
    But let him ask in faith , nothing wavering . For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed .
    For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord .
    A double minded man is unstable in all his ways .
    Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted :
    But the rich , in that he is made low : because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away .
    For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat , but it withereth the grass , and the flower thereof falleth , and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth : so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways .
    Blessed is the man that endureth temptation : for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life , which the Lord hath promised to them that love him .
    Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God : for God cannot be tempted with evil , neither tempteth he any man :
    But every man is tempted , when he is drawn away of his own lust , and enticed .
    Then when lust hath conceived , it bringeth forth sin : and sin , when it is finished , bringeth forth death .
    Do not err , my beloved brethren .
    Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above , and cometh down from the Father of lights , with whom is no variableness , neither shadow of turning .
    Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth , that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures .
    Wherefore , my beloved brethren , let every man be swift to hear , slow to speak , slow to wrath :
    For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God .
    Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness , and receive with meekness the engrafted word , which is able to save your souls .
    But be ye doers of the word , and not hearers only , deceiving your own selves .
    For if any be a hearer of the word , and not a doer , he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass :
    For he beholdeth himself , and goeth his way , and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was .
    But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty , and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer , but a doer of the work , this man shall be blessed in his deed .
    If any man among you seem to be religious , and bridleth not his tongue , but deceiveth his own heart , this man’s religion is vain .
    Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this , To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction , and to keep himself unspotted from the world .
    Chapter 2
    My brethren , have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ , the Lord of glory , with respect of persons .
    For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring , in goodly apparel , and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment ;
    And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing , and say unto him , Sit thou here in a good place ; and say to the poor , Stand thou there , or sit here under my footstool :
    Are ye not then partial in yourselves , and are become judges of evil thoughts ?
    Hearken , my beloved brethren , Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith , and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him ?
    But ye have despised the poor . Do not rich men oppress you , and draw you before the judgment seats ?
    Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called ?
    If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture , Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself , ye do well :
    But if ye have respect to persons , ye commit sin , and are convinced of the law as transgressors .
    For whosoever shall keep the whole law , and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all .
    For he that said , Do not commit adultery , said also , Do not kill . Now if thou commit no adultery , yet if thou kill , thou art become a transgressor of the law .
    So speak ye , and so do , as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty .
    For he shall have judgment without mercy , that hath shewed no mercy ; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment .
    What doth it profit , my brethren , though a man say he hath faith , and have not works ? can faith save him ?
    If a brother or sister be naked , and destitute of daily food ,
    And one of you say unto them , Depart in peace , be ye warmed and filled ; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body ; what doth it profit ?
    Even so faith , if it hath not works , is dead , being alone. .
    Yea , a man may say , Thou hast faith , and I have works : shew me thy faith without thy works , and I will shew thee my faith by my works .
    Thou believest that there is one God ; thou doest well : the devils also believe , and tremble .
    But wilt thou know , O vain man , that faith without works is dead ?
    Was not Abraham our father justified by works , when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar ?
    Seest thou how faith wrought with his works , and by works was faith made perfect ?
    And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God , and it was imputed unto him for righteousness : and he was called the Friend of God .
    Ye see then how that by works a man is justified , and not by faith only.
    Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works , when she had received the messengers , and had sent them out another way ?
    For as the body without the spirit is dead , so faith without works is dead also .
    Chapter 3
    My brethren , be not many masters [teachers], knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation [judgment].
    For in many things we offend all . If any man offend not in word , the same is a perfect man , and able also to bridle the whole body .
    Behold , we put bits in the horses mouths , that they may obey us ; and we turn about their whole body .
    Behold also the ships , which though they be so great , and are driven of fierce winds , yet are they turned about with a very small helm , whithersoever the governor listeth. .
    Even so the tongue is a little member , and boasteth great things . Behold , how great a matter a little fire kindleth !
    And the tongue is a fire , a world of iniquity : so is the tongue among our members , that it defileth the whole body , and setteth on fire the course of nature ; and it is set on fire of hell .
    For every kind of beasts , and of birds , and of serpents , and of things in the sea , is tamed , and hath been tamed of mankind: :
    But the tongue can no man tame ; it is an unruly evil , full of deadly poison .
    Therewith bless we God , even the Father ; and therewith curse we men , which are made after the similitude of God .
    Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing . My brethren , these things ought not so to be .
    Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter ?
    Can the fig tree , my brethren , bear olive berries ? either a vine , figs ? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh .
    Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you ? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom .
    But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts , glory not , and lie not against the truth .
    This wisdom descendeth not from above , but is earthly , sensual , devilish .
    For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work .
    But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable , gentle , and easy to be entreated , full of mercy and good fruits , without partiality , and without hypocrisy .
    And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace .
    Chapter 4
    From whence come wars and fightings among you ? come they not hence , even of your lusts that war in your members ?
    Ye lust , and have not : ye kill , and desire to have , and cannot obtain : ye fight and war , yet ye have not , because ye ask not .
    Ye ask , and receive not , because ye ask amiss , that ye may consume it upon your lusts .
    Ye adulterers and adulteresses , know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God ? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God .
    Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain , The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy ?
    But he giveth more grace . Wherefore he saith , God resisteth the proud , but giveth grace unto the humble .
    Submit yourselves therefore to God . Resist the devil , and he will flee from you.
    Draw nigh to God , and he will draw nigh to you . Cleanse your hands , ye sinners ; and purify your hearts , ye double minded .
    Be afflicted , and mourn , and weep : let your laughter be turned to mourning , and your joy to heaviness .
    Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord , and he shall lift you up .
    Speak not evil one of another , brethren . He that speaketh evil of his brother , and judgeth his brother , speaketh evil of the law , and judgeth the law : but if thou judge the law , thou art not a doer of the law , but a judge .
    There is one lawgiver , who is able to save and to destroy : who art thou that judgest another ?
    Go to now , ye that say , To day or to morrow we will go into such a city , and continue there a year , and buy and sell, and get gain:
    Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow . For what is your life ? It is even a vapour , that appeareth for a little time , and then vanisheth away .
    For that ye ought to say , If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this , or that .
    But now ye rejoice in your boastings : all such rejoicing is evil .
    Therefore to him that knoweth to do good , and doeth it not , to him it is sin .
    Chapter 5
    Go to now , ye rich men , weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.
    Your riches are corrupted , and your garments are motheaten .
    Your gold and silver is cankered ; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you , and shall eat your flesh as it were fire . Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days .
    Behold , the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields , which is of you kept back by fraud , crieth : and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth .
    Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth , and been wanton ; ye have nourished your hearts , as in a day of slaughter .
    Ye have condemned and killed the just ; and he doth not resist you .
    Be patient therefore , brethren , unto the coming of the Lord . Behold , the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth , and hath long patience for it , until he receive the early and latter rain .
    Be ye also patient ; stablish your hearts : for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh .
    Grudge not one against another, brethren , lest ye be condemned : behold , the judge standeth before the door .
    Take , my brethren , the prophets , who have spoken in the name of the Lord , for an example of suffering affliction , and of patience .
    Behold , we count them happy which endure . Ye have heard of the patience of Job , and have seen the end of the Lord ; that the Lord is very pitiful , and of tender mercy .
    But above all things , my brethren , swear not , neither by heaven , neither by the earth , neither by any other oath : but let your yea be yea ; and your nay , nay ; lest ye fall into condemnation .
    Is any among you afflicted ? let him pray . Is any merry ? let him sing psalms .
    Is any sick among you ? let him call for the elders of the church ; and let them pray over him , anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord :
    And the prayer of faith shall save the sick , and the Lord shall raise him up ; and if he have committed sins , they shall be forgiven him .
    Confess your faults one to another , and pray one for another , that ye may be healed . The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much .
    Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are , and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain : and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months .
    And he prayed again , and the heaven gave rain , and the earth brought forth her fruit .
    Brethren , if any of you do err from the truth , and one convert him ;
    Let him know , that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death , and shall hide a multitude of sins .
    Book of 1 Peter
    Chapter 1
    Peter , an apostle of Jesus Christ , to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus , Galatia , Cappadocia , Asia , and Bithynia ,
    Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father , through sanctification of the Spirit , unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ : Grace unto you , and peace , be multiplied .
    Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ , which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead ,
    To an inheritance incorruptible , and undefiled , and that fadeth not away , reserved in heaven for you ,
    Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time .
    Wherein ye greatly rejoice , though now for a season , if need be , ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations :
    That the trial of your faith , being much more precious than of gold that perisheth , though it be tried with fire , might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ :
    Whom having not seen, ye love ; in whom , though now ye see him not , yet believing , ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory :
    Receiving the end of your faith , even the salvation of your souls .
    Of which salvation the prophets have inquired and searched diligently , who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you :
    Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify , when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ , and the glory that should follow. .
    Unto whom it was revealed , that not unto themselves , but unto us they did minister the things , which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven ; which things the angels desire to look into .
    Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind , be sober , and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ ;
    As obedient children , not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance :
    But as he which hath called you is holy , so be ye holy in all manner of conversation ;
    Because it is written , Be ye holy ; for I am holy .
    And if ye call on the Father , who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work , pass the time of your sojourning here in fear :
    Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things , as silver and gold , from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers ;
    But with the precious blood of Christ , as of a lamb without blemish and without spot :
    Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world , but was manifest in these last times for you ,
    Who by him do believe in God , that raised him up from the dead , and gave him glory ; that your faith and hope might be in God .
    Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren , see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently :
    Being born again , not of corruptible seed , but of incorruptible , by the word of God , which liveth and abideth for ever .
    For all flesh is as grass , and all the glory of man as the flower of grass . The grass withereth , and the flower thereof falleth away :
    But the word of the Lord endureth for ever . And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you .
    Chapter 2
    Wherefore laying aside all malice , and all guile , and hypocrisies , and envies , and all evil speakings ,
    As newborn babes , desire the sincere milk of the word , that ye may grow thereby: :
    If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious .
    To whom coming , as unto a living stone , disallowed indeed of men , but chosen of God , and precious ,
    Ye also , as lively stones , are built up a spiritual house , an holy priesthood , to offer up spiritual sacrifices , acceptable to God by Jesus Christ .
    Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture , Behold , I lay in Sion a chief corner stone , elect , precious : and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded .
    Unto you therefore which believe he is precious : but unto them which be disobedient , the stone which the builders disallowed , the same is made the head of the corner ,
    And a stone of stumbling , and a rock of offence , even to them which stumble at the word , being disobedient : whereunto also they were appointed .
    But ye are a chosen generation , a royal priesthood , an holy nation , a peculiar people ; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light :
    Which in time past were not a people , but are now the people of God : which had not obtained mercy , but now have obtained mercy .
    Dearly beloved , I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims , abstain from fleshly lusts , which war against the soul ;
    Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles : that , whereas they speak against you as evildoers , they may by your good works , which they shall behold , glorify God in the day of visitation .
    Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s : sake: whether it be to the king , as supreme ;
    Or unto governors , as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers , and for the praise of them that do well .
    For so is the will of God , that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men :
    As free , and not using your liberty for a cloak of maliciousness , but as the servants of God .
    Honour all men. Love the brotherhood . Fear God . Honour the king .
    Servants , be subject to your masters with all fear ; not only to the good and gentle , but also to the froward .
    For this is thankworthy , if a man for conscience toward God endure grief , suffering wrongfully .
    For what glory is it, if , when ye be buffeted for your faults , ye shall take it patiently ? but if , when ye do well , and suffer for it, ye take it patiently , this is acceptable with God .
    For even hereunto were ye called : because Christ also suffered for us , leaving us an example , that ye should follow his steps :
    Who did no sin , neither was guile found in his mouth :
    Who , when he was reviled , reviled not again ; when he suffered , he threatened not ; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously :
    Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree , that we , being dead to sins , should live unto righteousness : by whose stripes ye were healed.
    For ye were as sheep going astray ; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls .
    Chapter 3
    Likewise , ye wives , be in subjection to your own husbands ; that , if any obey not the word , they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives ;
    While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear .
    Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair , and of wearing of gold , or of putting on of apparel ;
    But let it be the hidden man of the heart , in that which is not corruptible , even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit , which is in the sight of God of great price .
    For after this manner in the old time the holy women also , who trusted in God , adorned themselves , being in subjection unto their own husbands :
    Even as Sara obeyed Abraham , calling him lord : whose daughters ye are , as long as ye do well , and are not afraid with any amazement .
    Likewise , ye husbands , dwell with them according to knowledge , giving honour unto the wife , as unto the weaker vessel , and as being heirs together of the grace of life ; that your prayers be not hindered .
    Finally, be ye all of one mind , having compassion one of another , love as brethren , be pitiful , be courteous :
    Not rendering evil for evil , or railing for railing : but contrariwise blessing ; knowing that ye are thereunto called , that ye should inherit a blessing .
    For he that will love life , and see good days , let him refrain his tongue from evil , and his lips that they speak no guile :
    Let him eschew evil , and do good ; let him seek peace , and ensue it .
    For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous , and his ears are open unto their prayers : but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil .
    And who is he that will harm you , if ye be followers of that which is good ?
    But and if ye suffer for righteousness sake , happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror , neither be troubled ;
    But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts : and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear :
    Having a good conscience ; that , whereas they speak evil of you , as of evildoers , they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ .
    For it is better , if the will of God be so , that ye suffer for well doing , than for evil doing .
    For Christ also hath once suffered for sins , the just for the unjust , that he might bring us to God , being put to death in the flesh , but quickened by the Spirit :
    By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison ;
    Which sometime were disobedient , when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah , while the ark was a preparing , wherein few , that is , eight souls were saved by water .
    The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh , but the answer of a good conscience toward God ,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ :
    Who is gone into heaven , and is on the right hand of God ; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him .
    Chapter 4
    Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh , arm yourselves likewise with the same mind : for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin ;
    That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men , but to the will of God .
    For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles , when we walked in lasciviousness , lusts , excess of wine , revellings , banquetings , and abominable idolatries :
    Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot , speaking evil of you:
    Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead .
    For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead , that they might be judged according to men in the flesh , but live according to God in the spirit .
    But the end of all things is at hand : be ye therefore sober , and watch unto prayer .
    And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves : for charity shall cover the multitude of sins .
    Use hospitality one to another without grudging .
    As every man hath received the gift , even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God .
    If any man speak , let him speak as the oracles of God ; if any man minister , let him do it as of the ability which God giveth : that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ , to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever . Amen .
    Beloved , think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you , as though some strange thing happened unto you :
    But rejoice , inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings ; that , when his glory shall be revealed , ye may be glad also with exceeding joy .
    If ye be reproached for the name of Christ , happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you : on their part he is evil spoken of , but on your part he is glorified .
    But let none of you suffer as a murderer , or as a thief , or as an evildoer , or as a busybody in other men’s matters .
    Yet if any man suffer as a Christian , let him not be ashamed ; but let him glorify God on this behalf .
    For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God : and if it first begin at us , what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God ?
    And if the righteous scarcely be saved , where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear ?
    Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing , as unto a faithful Creator .
    Chapter 5
    The elders which are among you I exhort , who am also an elder , and a witness of the sufferings of Christ , and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed :
    Feed the flock of God which is among you , taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint , but willingly ; not for filthy lucre , but of a ready mind ;
    Neither as being lords over God’s heritage , but being ensamples to the flock .
    And when the chief Shepherd shall appear , ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away .
    Likewise , ye younger , submit yourselves unto the elder . Yea , all of you be subject one to another , and be clothed with humility : for God resisteth the proud , and giveth grace to the humble .
    Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God , that he may exalt you in due time :
    Casting all your care upon him ; for he careth for you .
    Be sober , be vigilant ; because your adversary the devil , as a roaring lion , walketh about , seeking whom he may devour :
    Whom resist stedfast in the faith , knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world .
    But the God of all grace , who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus , after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect , stablish , strengthen , settle you.
    To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever . Amen .
    By Silvanus , a faithful brother unto you , as I suppose , I have written briefly, exhorting , and testifying that this is the true grace of God wherein ye stand .
    The church that is at Babylon , elected together with you, saluteth you ; and so doth Marcus my son .
    Greet ye one another with a kiss of charity . Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus . Amen .
    Book of 2 Peter
    Chapter 1
    Simon Peter , a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ , to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ :
    Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God , and of Jesus our Lord ,
    According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness , through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue :
    Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises : that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature , having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust .
    And beside this , giving all diligence , add to your faith virtue ; and to virtue knowledge ;
    And to knowledge temperance ; and to temperance patience ; and to patience godliness ;
    And to godliness brotherly kindness ; and to brotherly kindness charity .
    For if these things be in you , and abound , they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ .
    But he that lacketh these things is blind , and cannot see afar off , and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins .
    Wherefore the rather , brethren , give diligence to make your calling and election sure : for if ye do these things , ye shall never fall: :
    For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ .
    Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things , though ye know them, and be established in the present truth .
    Yea , I think it meet , as long as I am in this tabernacle , to stir you up by putting you in remembrance ;
    Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle , even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me .
    Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance .
    For we have not followed cunningly devised fables , when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ , but were eyewitnesses of his majesty .
    For he received from God the Father honour and glory , when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory , This is my beloved Son , in whom I am well pleased .
    And this voice which came from heaven we heard , when we were with him in the holy mount .
    We have also a more sure word of prophecy ; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed , as unto a light that shineth in a dark place , until the day dawn , and the day star arise in your hearts :
    Knowing this first , that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation .
    For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man : but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost .
    Chapter 2
    But there were false prophets also among the people , even as there shall be false teachers among you , who privily shall bring in damnable heresies , even denying the Lord that bought them , and bring upon themselves swift destruction .
    And many shall follow their pernicious ways ; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of .
    And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you : whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not , and their damnation slumbereth not .
    For if God spared not the angels that sinned , but cast them down to hell , and delivered them into chains of darkness , to be reserved unto judgment ;
    And spared not the old world , but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness , bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly ;
    And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow , making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly ;
    And delivered just Lot , vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked :
    (For that righteous man dwelling among them , in seeing and hearing , vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds 😉
    The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations , and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished :
    But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness , and despise government . Presumptuous are they, selfwilled , they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities .
    Whereas angels , which are greater in power and might , bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord .
    But these , as natural brute beasts , made to be taken and destroyed , speak evil of the things that they understand not ; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption ;
    And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness , as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time . Spots they are and blemishes , sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you ;
    Having eyes full of adultery , and that cannot cease from sin ; beguiling unstable souls : an heart they have exercised with covetous practices ; cursed children :
    Which have forsaken the right way , and are gone astray , following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor , who loved the wages of unrighteousness ;
    But was rebuked for his iniquity : the dumb ass speaking with man’s voice forbad the madness of the prophet .
    These are wells without water , clouds that are carried with a tempest ; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever .
    For when they speak great swelling words of vanity , they allure through the lusts of the flesh , through much wantonness , those that were clean escaped from them who live in error .
    While they promise them liberty , they themselves are the servants of corruption : for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage .
    For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ , they are again entangled therein , and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning .
    For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness , than , after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them .
    But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb , The dog is turned to his own vomit again ; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire .
    Chapter 3
    This second epistle , beloved , I now write unto you ; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance :
    That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets , and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour :
    Knowing this first , that there shall come in the last days scoffers , walking after their own lusts ,
    And saying , Where is the promise of his coming ? for since the fathers fell asleep , all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation .
    For this they willingly are ignorant of , that by the word of God the heavens were of old , and the earth standing out of the water and in the water :
    Whereby the world that then was , being overflowed with water , perished :
    But the heavens and the earth , which are now , by the same word are kept in store , reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men .
    But , beloved , be not ignorant of this one thing , that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years , and a thousand years as one day .
    The Lord is not slack concerning his promise , as some men count slackness ; but is longsuffering to us-ward , not willing that any should perish , but that all should come to repentance .
    But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night ; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise , and the elements shall melt with fervent heat , the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up .
    Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved , what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness ,
    Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God , wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved , and the elements shall melt with fervent heat ?
    Nevertheless we , according to his promise , look for new heavens and a new earth , wherein dwelleth righteousness .
    Wherefore , beloved , seeing that ye look for such things , be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace , without spot , and blameless .
    And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation ; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you ;
    As also in all his epistles , speaking in them of these things ; in which are some things hard to be understood , which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest , as they do also the other scriptures , unto their own destruction .
    Ye therefore , beloved , seeing ye know these things before , beware lest ye also , being led away with the error of the wicked , fall from your own stedfastness .
    But grow in grace , and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ . To him be glory both now and for ever. . Amen .
    Book of 1 John
    Chapter 1
    That which was from the beginning , which we have heard , which we have seen with our eyes , which we have looked upon , and our hands have handled , of the Word of life ;
    (For the life was manifested , and we have seen it, and bear witness , and shew unto you that eternal life , which was with the Father , and was manifested unto us 😉
    That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you , that ye also may have fellowship with us : and truly our fellowship is with the Father , and with his Son Jesus Christ .
    And these things write we unto you , that your joy may be full .
    This then is the message which we have heard of him , and declare unto you , that God is light , and in him is no darkness at all .
    If we say that we have fellowship with him , and walk in darkness , we lie , and do not the truth :
    But if we walk in the light , as he is in the light , we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin .
    If we say that we have no sin , we deceive ourselves , and the truth is not in us.
    If we confess our sins , he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins , and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness .
    If we say that we have not sinned , we make him a liar , and his word is not in us .
    Chapter 2
    My little children , these things write I unto you , that ye sin not . And if any man sin , we have an advocate with the Father , Jesus Christ the righteous :
    And he is the propitiation for our sins : and not for ours only , but also for the sins of the whole world .
    And hereby we do know that we know him , if we keep his commandments .
    He that saith , I know him , and keepeth not his commandments , is a liar , and the truth is not in him .
    But whoso keepeth his word , in him verily is the love of God perfected : hereby know we that we are in him .
    He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk , even as he walked .
    Brethren , I write no new commandment unto you , but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning . The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning .
    Again , a new commandment I write unto you , which thing is true in him and in you : because the darkness is past , and the true light now shineth .
    He that saith he is in the light , and hateth his brother , is in darkness even until now .
    He that loveth his brother abideth in the light , and there is none occasion of stumbling in him .
    But he that hateth his brother is in darkness , and walketh in darkness , and knoweth not whither he goeth , because that darkness hath blinded his eyes .
    I write unto you , little children , because your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake .
    I write unto you , fathers , because ye have known him that is from the beginning . I write unto you , young men , because ye have overcome the wicked one . I write unto you , little children , because ye have known the Father .
    I have written unto you , fathers , because ye have known him that is from the beginning . I have written unto you , young men , because ye are strong , and the word of God abideth in you , and ye have overcome the wicked one .
    Love not the world , neither the things that are in the world . If any man love the world , the love of the Father is not in him .
    For all that is in the world , the lust of the flesh , and the lust of the eyes , and the pride of life , is not of the Father , but is of the world .
    And the world passeth away , and the lust thereof : but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever .
    Little children , it is the last time : and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come , even now are there many antichrists ; whereby we know that it is the last time .
    They went out from us , but they were not of us ; for if they had been of us , they would no doubt have continued with us : but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us .
    But ye have an unction from the Holy One , and ye know all things .
    I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth , but because ye know it , and that no lie is of the truth .
    Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ ? He is antichrist , that denieth the Father and the Son .
    Whosoever denieth the Son , the same hath not the Father : (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. .
    Let that therefore abide in you , which ye have heard from the beginning . If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you , ye also shall continue in the Son , and in the Father .
    And this is the promise that he hath promised us , even eternal life .
    These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you .
    But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you , and ye need not that any man teach you : but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things , and is truth , and is no lie , and even as it hath taught you , ye shall abide in him .
    And now , little children , abide in him ; that , when he shall appear , we may have confidence , and not be ashamed before him at his coming .
    If ye know that he is righteous , ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him .
    Chapter 3
    Behold , what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us , that we should be called the sons of God : therefore the world knoweth us not , because it knew him not .
    Beloved , now are we the sons of God , and it doth not yet appear what we shall be : but we know that , when he shall appear , we shall be like him ; for we shall see him as he is .
    And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself , even as he is pure .
    Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law : for sin is the transgression of the law .
    And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins ; and in him is no sin .
    Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not : whosoever sinneth hath not seen him , neither known him .
    Little children , let no man deceive you : he that doeth righteousness is righteous , even as he is righteous .
    He that committeth sin is of the devil ; for the devil sinneth from the beginning . For this purpose the Son of God was manifested , that he might destroy the works of the devil .
    Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin ; for his seed remaineth in him : and he cannot sin , because he is born of God .
    In this the children of God are manifest , and the children of the devil : whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God , neither he that loveth not his brother .
    For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning , that we should love one another .
    Not as Cain , who was of that wicked one , and slew his brother . And wherefore slew he him ? Because his own works were evil , and his brother’s righteous .
    Marvel not , my brethren , if the world hate you .
    We know that we have passed from death unto life , because we love the brethren . He that loveth not his brother abideth in death .
    Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer : and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him .
    Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us : and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren .
    But whoso hath this world’s good , and seeth his brother have need , and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him , how dwelleth the love of God in him ?
    My little children , let us not love in word , neither in tongue ; but in deed and in truth .
    And hereby we know that we are of the truth , and shall assure our hearts before him .
    For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart , and knoweth all things .
    Beloved , if our heart condemn us not , then have we confidence toward God .
    And whatsoever we ask , we receive of him , because we keep his commandments , and do those things that are pleasing in his sight .
    And this is his commandment , That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ , and love one another , as he gave us commandment .
    And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him , and he in him . And hereby we know that he abideth in us , by the Spirit which he hath given us .
    Chapter 4
    Beloved , believe not every spirit , but try the spirits whether they are of God : because many false prophets are gone out into the world .
    Hereby know ye the Spirit of God : Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God :
    And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God : and this is that spirit of antichrist , whereof ye have heard that it should come ; and even now already is it in the world .
    Ye are of God , little children , and have overcome them : because greater is he that is in you , than he that is in the world .
    They are of the world : therefore speak they of the world , and the world heareth them .
    We are of God : he that knoweth God heareth us ; he that is not of God heareth not us . Hereby know we the spirit of truth , and the spirit of error .
    Beloved , let us love one another : for love is of God ; and every one that loveth is born of God , and knoweth God .
    He that loveth not knoweth not God ; for God is love .
    In this was manifested the love of God toward us , because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world , that we might live through him .
    Herein is love , not that we loved God , but that he loved us , and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins .
    Beloved , if God so loved us , we ought also to love one another .
    No man hath seen God at any time . If we love one another , God dwelleth in us , and his love is perfected in us .
    Hereby know we that we dwell in him , and he in us , because he hath given us of his Spirit .
    And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world .
    Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God , God dwelleth in him , and he in God .
    And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us . God is love ; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God , and God in him .
    Herein is our love made perfect , that we may have boldness in the day of judgment : because as he is , so are we in this world .
    There is no fear in love ; but perfect love casteth out fear : because fear hath torment. . He that feareth is not made perfect in love .
    We love him , because he first loved us .
    If a man say, I love God , and hateth his brother , he is a liar : for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen , how can he love God whom he hath not seen ?
    And this commandment have we from him , That he who loveth God love his brother also .
    Chapter 5
    Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God : and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him .
    By this we know that we love the children of God , when we love God , and keep his commandments .
    For this is the love of God , that we keep his commandments : and his commandments are not grievous .
    For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world : and this is the victory that overcometh the world , even our faith .
    Who is he that overcometh the world , but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God ?
    This is he that came by water and blood , even Jesus Christ ; not by water only , but by water and blood . And it is the Spirit that beareth witness , because the Spirit is truth .
    For there are three that bear record in heaven , the Father , the Word , and the Holy Ghost : and these three are one .
    And there are three that bear witness in earth , the Spirit , and the water , and the blood : and these three agree in one .
    If we receive the witness of men , the witness of God is greater : for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son .
    He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself : he that believeth not God hath made him a liar ; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son .
    And this is the record , that God hath given to us eternal life , and this life is in his Son .
    He that hath the Son hath life ; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life .
    These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God ; that ye may know that ye have eternal life , and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God .
    And this is the confidence that we have in him , that , if we ask any thing according to his will , he heareth us :
    And if we know that he hear us , whatsoever we ask , we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him .
    If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death , he shall ask , and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death . There is a sin unto death : I do not say that he shall pray for it .
    All unrighteousness is sin : and there is a sin not unto death .
    We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not ; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself , and that wicked one toucheth him not .
    And we know that we are of God , and the whole world lieth in wickedness .
    And we know that the Son of God is come , and hath given us an understanding , that we may know him that is true , and we are in him that is true , even in his Son Jesus Christ . This is the true God , and eternal life .
    Little children , keep yourselves from idols . Amen .
    Book of 2 John
    Chapter 1
    The elder unto the elect lady and her children , whom I love in the truth ; and not I only , but also all they that have known the truth ;
    For the truth’s sake , which dwelleth in us , and shall be with us for ever .
    Grace be with you , mercy , and peace , from God the Father , and from the Lord Jesus Christ , the Son of the Father , in truth and love .
    I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth , as we have received a commandment from the Father .
    And now I beseech thee , lady , not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee , but that which we had from the beginning , that we love one another .
    And this is love , that we walk after his commandments . This is the commandment , That , as ye have heard from the beginning , ye should walk in it .
    For many deceivers are entered into the world , who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh . This is a deceiver and an antichrist .
    Look to yourselves , that we lose not those things which we have wrought , but that we receive a full reward .
    Whosoever transgresseth , and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ , hath not God . He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ , he hath both the Father and the Son .
    If there come any unto you , and bring not this doctrine , receive him not into your house , neither bid him God speed :
    For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds .
    Having many things to write unto you , I would not write with paper and ink : but I trust to come unto you , and speak face to face , that our joy may be full .
    The children of thy elect sister greet thee . Amen .
    Book of 3 John
    Chapter 1
    The elder unto the wellbeloved Gaius , whom I love in the truth .
    Beloved , I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health , even as thy soul prospereth .
    For I rejoiced greatly , when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee , even as thou walkest in the truth .
    I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth .
    Beloved , thou doest faithfully whatsoever thou doest to the brethren , and to strangers ;
    Which have borne witness of thy charity before the church : whom if thou bring forward on their journey after a godly sort , thou shalt do well :
    Because that for his name’s sake they went forth , taking nothing of the Gentiles .
    We therefore ought to receive such , that we might be fellowhelpers to the truth .
    I wrote unto the church : but Diotrephes , who loveth to have the preeminence among them , receiveth us not .
    Wherefore, if I come , I will remember his deeds which he doeth , prating against us with malicious words : and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren , and forbiddeth them that would , and casteth them out of the church .
    Beloved , follow not that which is evil , but that which is good . He that doeth good is of God : but he that doeth evil hath not seen God .
    Demetrius hath good report of all men, and of the truth itself : yea , and we also bear record ; and ye know that our record is true .
    I had many things to write , but I will not with ink and pen write unto thee :
    But I trust I shall shortly see thee , and we shall speak face to face . Peace be to thee . Our friends salute thee . Greet the friends by name .
    Book of Jude
    Chapter 1
    Jude , the servant of Jesus Christ , and brother of James , to them that are sanctified by God the Father , and preserved in Jesus Christ , and called :
    Mercy unto you , and peace , and love , be multiplied .
    Beloved , when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation , it was needful for me to write unto you , and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints .
    For there are certain men crept in unawares , who were before of old ordained to this condemnation , ungodly men , turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness , and denying the only Lord God , and our Lord Jesus Christ .
    I will therefore put you in remembrance , though ye once knew this , how that the Lord , having saved the people out of the land of Egypt , afterward destroyed them that believed not .
    And the angels which kept not their first estate , but left their own habitation , he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day .
    Even as Sodom and Gomorrha , and the cities about them in like manner , giving themselves over to fornication , and going after strange flesh , are set forth for an example , suffering the vengeance of eternal fire .
    Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion , and speak evil of dignities .
    Yet Michael the archangel , when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses , durst not bring against him a railing accusation , but said , The Lord rebuke thee .
    But these speak evil of those things which they know not : but what they know naturally , as brute beasts , in those things they corrupt themselves .
    Woe unto them ! for they have gone in the way of Cain , and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward , and perished in the gainsaying of Core .
    These are spots in your feasts of charity , when they feast with you , feeding themselves without fear : clouds they are without water , carried about of winds ; trees whose fruit withereth , without fruit , twice dead , plucked up by the roots ;
    Raging waves of the sea , foaming out their own shame ; wandering stars , to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever .
    And Enoch also , the seventh from Adam , prophesied of these , saying , Behold , the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints ,
    To execute judgment upon all , and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed , and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him .
    These are murmurers , complainers , walking after their own lusts ; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men’s persons in admiration because of advantage .
    But , beloved , remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ ;
    How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time , who should walk after their own ungodly lusts .
    These be they who separate themselves , sensual , having not the Spirit .
    But ye , beloved , building up yourselves on your most holy faith , praying in the Holy Ghost ,
    Keep yourselves in the love of God , looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life .
    And of some have compassion , making a difference :
    And others save with fear , pulling them out of the fire ; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh .
    Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling , and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy ,
    To the only wise God our Saviour , be glory and majesty , dominion and power , both now and for . ever . Amen.
